Hello, vintage Nutcracker lovers!
You are looking at an original Steinbach nutcracker from the early 1980s. The "Piccolo Baker" (edition # S724) is in great vintage condition, and he has never been used. He wears a chef's hat and carries a rolling pin with treats dangling from the side.
This nutcracker has the original Steinbach trademark sticker on the bottom, and was handmade in pre-unification West Germany. Until today, he has been displayed in a glass-enclosed case and has not been handled in any capacity. This is a retired, very hard-to-find collectible, and -- in keeping with the Steinbach tradition -- he is a sturdy, high-quality, handmade piece.
A couple of notes: the lever that is used to move the nutcracker's mouth open and shut (on the back towards the bottom) looks like a partial slab of the wood has sheared off (please see photo #4 above), but it is more something you feel than something you see. And the top of the chef's hat has several faint marks that may or may not be a part of the original production (please see photo #6). Other than that, he is in great vintage condition.
Height: 11 inches
Vintage: early 1980s
This cute little baker is the perfect addition to any nutcracker / smoker lover's collection, and would make a perfect gift for your favorite gourmand. I will ship via USPS Parcel Post (to U.S. buyers) or UPS Standard (to Canada buyers) within 1 business day of receipt of payment. I will ship anywhere in the U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska) and Canada. Because of the fragile nature of this item, insurance is required for shipment. All you will pay for is the location-based calculated shipping rate, and I will provide you with free insurance and, if you request it, free signature confirmation.
Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions. I will be happy to answer promptly.
Also, please make sure to check back this week, as I will be offering many more vintage Steinbach and Ulbricht nutcrackers, smokers, and music boxes for sale (mainly from the 1970s and 1980s) -- most of which are retired and/or very hard-to-find.
Thanks for looking!
