Rare bicycle race pin back made by the Whitehead & Hoag Co. Boston, MA. This is a promotional button for an international race between Eddie McDuffie (US ?), Jimmy Michael (Scotland) and Lucien Lesna (France). Lesna raced for Orient Cycles in Waltham,MA. The race was held at Charles River Park in Cambridge, across the river from Boston. I believe the race was in either 1896 or 1897. Measures approx. 1 1/4" across. Condition is very good. The celluloid is excellent, no cracking. There is a small stain on the paper backing (see pic) but it doesn't bleed through. Please ask all questions before bidding, NO RETURNS. USA shipping only. Thank you. |
