The Flying Squadron of America was a temperance group organized by the Honorable J. Frank Hanly, former Governor of Indiana. The speakers flew to cities all over the country to promote the temperance movement during 1914-1915.
The main booklet included in this great compilation of temperance history includes the "Points of Attack on the liquor traffic October 1914 through May 1915" as well as pasted photographs of the chief officers and individuals involved with the group, many of whom later ran for office on the prohibition ticket.
This is a 1915 First Edition.
The Organization also flew their own planes back and forth across the country presenting the cause for temperance. The map included with this compilation shows the places they flew and cities they visited. This squadron was sometimes referred to as "Hanly's Flying Squadron."
Also included in this compilation:
William Wolvertons booklet, Rum's Wrong to Childhood. Published in 1915 by the author.
This is a 1915 First Edition.
2 pamphlets on the Honorable J. Frank Hanly
(most likely from a speach he gave at one point in his career).
2 separate 14" x 10" temperance posters. 3 originals of "I Hate It" and 1 original of "Tell the Truth....". All in color!
As well as:
Map of the country showing the squadrons flight stops.
And the original booklet with photographs and biographies measuring 8" x 11".
This is an incredible grouping of historical documentation, photographs and educational ephemera.
As with any historical paper, there is wear and tear, although minimal. The main booklet spine has come undone and the pages are now loose. There is yellowing on many of the pages and crease marks on the map.
