The RELEASE of Knowledge Adventure's new series of eight JumpStart Advanced titles is designed to offer kids from toddler age through sixth grade level a head start in learning. Each of the comprehensive three-CD packs contains fundamental skills for the targeted age group, as well as two additional CDs with various exercises, adventures, and activities. JumpStart Advanced: Kindergarten, for ages four through six, features more than 45 separate activities in the areas of fundamental skills, animals, and art and crafts.
Topics in Disc 1, Fundamentals, include math, reading, music, nature, science, and spelling. Kids interact with the seven JumpStart "All-Stars" -- wordsmith Eleanor, artist Kisha, athlete Casey, musician Pierre, math whiz Hopsalot, people person Frankie, and explorer CJ the Frog --who help tailor lessons to individual needs. Specific kindergarten activities include Front of School (play games and earn carrots for racing), Classroom (various activities), Backyard (phonics, counting), Eleanor's Story Center (pre-reading, vocabulary, rhyming), Explore Music (music appreciation, styles, instruments), and Paint and Decorate (art, colors, patterns). Additional activities include Sound Out Words (letter and word recognition), Explore the Garden (patterns, visual identification, compare/contrast, science), Hopsalot's Popsalot! (simple math), Carrot Progress Screen (rewards), and Frankie's Big Race (arcade action with keyboard skills).
Disc 2, Animal Field Trip, lets kids explore the animal world, learning about strange but true facts and natural habitats. Exploration is via an "All-Over-Rover," which takes players to a world map, animal arts and crafts, progress report, sticker book, and habitat printouts. Four specific activities include contests, crafts, and collection of stickers from Savanna (zebra, elephant, rhinoceros, baboon), Tide Pool (octopus, hermit crab, crab), Temperate Forest (bats, deer, beaver), and Tropical Rainforest (leaf cutter ants, anteater, monkeys) zones. An Animal Fact Game provides a fun way to review lessons learned about the individual locales and animals encountered during exploration.
Disc 3, Arts & Crafts, provides hundreds of backgrounds, stickers, borders and decorations for designing a comic strip, art, safari stories, or even a barnyard book with the help of JumpSart regulars Frankie, Eleanor, CJ, and Edison. Stories can be edited, and along with art and stickers, printed out when finished.
JumpStart Advanced: Kindergarten teaches more than 50 skills in the areas of Reading, Science, Art, Math, Music, and Thinking Skills, employing seven expert-identified learning styles. As with all the JumpStart Advanced titles, Kindergarten contains comprehensive on-CD manuals for all three programs, parental or caregiver advice and assistance, progress reports, and printed song lyrics where appropriate.
