ANTIQUE MACHINE AGE STOOL STEEL & WICKER YACHT CLUB BENTWOOD WEAVE COVERED FRAME SEAT Take a moment to regress to the past where the great majestic cottages and lodges and summer homes with rustic summer porches were the trend. A time where leisure was strive and ultimate focus: in a demanding world of the Industrial age. Progress was growing by leaps and bounds to which the need to counterbalance a demanding life was to leisure extravagantly. (If your were fortune enough to have the bankroll to fund your get a ways) The exotic and rustic places called the affluent like the rats to a piper. The Lodges with majestic names appears on the landscape of Standing a stately 37 inches in height this icon of the past has the looks and appearance of a piece straight out of the pages of history, because it is! Purchased from the Historical Home Region of I have no paperwork to prove its existence, so please accept this as a verbal paper trail. Base is a massive cast iron with a height of 23 ½ inches. The only identification I could find was the stamping on the seat crossbar which reads: Patented. Having spent a handful of quality years in the I actually have three of these seated stools; however this one being offered is in the best condition. (The other two need weave repair on the seats) Please view all photos to become familiar with the item being offered and its pictured and existing condition. The seat with its base of metal is ingeniously adjoined with the stools upper seat frame of wood and whicker. The seat design appears to have the rolled wood frame (which matches that of the bentwood parlor stools from long ago) artistically covered with a tight and eye catching intricate weave. The seat slides into the base with ease, and is free from wobble or play. Base does support the expected attachment holes at the bottom base for permanent placement. The weave does support the aptitude of age and use. I do believer it presents with the appearance of a piece aged naturally. From my basket weave studies, I do believe at one time the seat must have been covered to replace an ailing weave. The top rim of the bentwood frame is missing two spoke weavers (at the top bend) which are designed and placed to round the bentwood. The remainder of the weave is in place and stout. Please view photos. The seat measures an appreciated and artistic 14 ½ inches in width and depth. The seats patina of age adds to its character. Please consider the cost of shipping of this grand piece, its weight added to its size may be a significant investment. Worthy, but costly! One would be hard pressed to find a treasure such as this chair without having to invest precious time, travels and hard earned cash to find a piece as elegant as this. I have done all of the travel, and leg work- enjoy the fruits of my labor with the purchase of this iconic Yacht Club stool. This truly has been the year for antique stools for me!
