Roseville Blue Freesia Cornucopia #197-6"Rosevile Blue Fresia was manufactured in the mid 1940's. The pattern as of weeping Freesia flower in off white with long green reed like leaves on a wavie Delft blue background. This item is #197-6" Cornucopia Vase which is 6 1/2" tall, 4 1/2" wide. NOT A FAKE GUARANTEED! It is in mint condition which is RARE since these Roseville pieces were so cheap when originally made for the common man thus considered disposable. Being made from pottery they often chipped, bottom rims were slivered and handles were broken. The inside looks unused with no stains or marks. I have shown pictures of the top and both sides. There are two tiny little chips on the underside inside the rim that do not detract for the condition or value since you can not see them. In 1892 George F. Young founded The Roseville Pottery Company in Zanesville, because he saw Zanesville being ideal because of it's rich clay deposits.
The factory was considered a wartime company but closed in the 1950's. All the pieces are a minimum of 70 years old. To have withstood the sands of time in perfect condition is AMAZING! Just beware of fakes. First of all they are offered at a considerably lower price and second...they LOOK fake. There is no such thing as second generation Roseville. Most fakes come from China.
