This auction is for a vintage three piece 2/2 7 ½’ Montague Rapidan circa early 1950’s split bamboo fly rod with original storage clothe and tube. This rod is original mint condition and appears to have never been used. The Montague Rapidan decal is 100% intact. The bottom section measures 45” and the two tips are 45 ½”. I would estimate that it would throw a 4-5 weight line nicely, possibly even a three weight.
The cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in excellent condition. There are five snake eye guides on each tip section, two guides on the bottom section and a hook keeper. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and all sections are straight.
The medium brown bamboo cane and finish are gorgeous. This Montague Rapidan rod is totally awesome. You will be very hard pressed to find one in this mint condition.
