This photograph album is a record of a group of the Mazama mountaineering club members who ascended Mt. Rainier in 1919. The account of this mountaineering trip may be found in Volume V- Number 4 of the books that the club published. Ebook edition UOM39015070268191 The album cover measures 10 ¼” x 13” and the pages measure 9 ¾ x 11 ¾. There are 44 pages: 28 have pictures and 16 are blank. The album is in good condition for its age, some of the pages have come loose from the string binding, but the photographs themselves are just wonderful! There are captioned record shots of the party in various climbing and expedition activities. There are also some incredibly artistic landscape images of the Mt. Rainier environs that include peaks, lakes, and glaciers as they appeared in 1919. All in all, a fantastic album for a museum collection, library, historian or private collector. The album contains a total of 130 photographs! I have provided photos of some of them for the auction page. Here is a full listing of photos (measured in inches) 88 – 3 x 5 and smaller 1 – 4 ½ x 6 6 – 5 ½ x 7 ½ 1 – 7 x 10 1 – 6 x 10 1 – 5 x 7 3 – 7 x 9 1 – 5 ¾ x 10 1 – 6 ½ x 9 ¾ 1 - 6 x 9 ½ 3 – 7 ½ x 9 ½ 3 – 6 ½ x 101 – 9 ¼ x 11 ¼ 1 – 7 ¾ x 9 1 – 8 x 9 ¾ 10 – 3 x 4 1 – 3 x 9 1 – 7 x 9 1 - 7 ¼ x 9 ½ 1 – 6 ½ x 9 ¾ 1 – 9 ½ x 12 1 – 8 x 9 ¾ This antique photograph album is a wonderful historical record of Mt. Rainier and the Mazamas mountaineering and conservation organization, which is still in existence today, as well as a beautifully photographed record of the 1919 mountaineering trip. Most of the the photos have wonderful captions, most probably written by the photographer, Wm. W. Evans. I am a photo historian and collector of antique photographs, cameras and equipment. When I realized the historical and unique environmental conservation significance of this photograph album (especially in light of the loss of glaciers due to global warming) I thought it best to make it available to those who would really study and appreciate it. I hope that it will someday be viewed in an educational setting. It is of great historical importance! I will be sure to package this album extremely well and ship it as soon as payment is received.
