1847 Rogers Brothers

3 Rogers brothers started a shop in Harford Connecticut in the 1840’s. They were known for quality workmanship. The process of electroplating a thin coat of silver over a base metal was also being used in production in the early 1840’s. The Rogers brothers were finally satisfied with their final product in 1847, that is when they started putting their name on their wares. They moved to Meriden, Connecticut in 1862; and eventually became part of Meriden Britannia co. This company expanded, absorbing a number of other silverware makers in that area, and began doing business overseas, eventually becoming the International Silver Company; IS-mark. The successor is still in business today using the 1847 trademark.
