There are seven forms of renewable energy, one of which is tidal power. Tidal-electric power is obtained by utilizing the recurring rise and fall of coastal waters. Marginal marine basins are enclosed with dams, making it possible to create differences in the water level between the ocean and the basins. The oscillatory flow of water filling or emptying the basins is used to drive hydraulic turbines, which propel electric generators. The book presents, for the first time, research results covering the analysis of tidal stream power in Europe, North American and Australia. This book is divided into six Chapters. Chapter One details history of tidal science and includes biographical information on major figures, Chapters Two and Three draw upon recent research work to cover the application of fluid dynamics to tidal theory and to the physical principles of tidal stream power devices.The result is a set of analytical algorithms that enable the calculation of electrical energy at any tidal site from either chart data or relatively short-term current meter records.
