Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Memorabilia: The Vintage Years 1928-1938
introduction by Bevis Hillier
principal consultant: Bernard C. Shine
Hardcover, dust jacket, 10 1/2" x 9 3/4", 180 pages, in near mint condition.
Contains more than 240 illustrations, including 235 plates in full color

From the dust jacket:

Mickey Mouse, international hero and epitome of innocence and fun, was described by LIFE magazine in 1968 as one of the most instantly recognizable symbols of our time. Since his introduction in 1928, this eternally youthful character has provided every successive generation with unending pleasure. Together with his friends - Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie and others - Mickey has romped across innumerable movie and television screens, but his image has also been immortalized in countless objects - from buttons to books, postcards to plates, tin toys to tableware - all now increasingly valuable collectors' items.

Covering the ten-year period during which the most sought-after and the best of the classic Mickey articles were produced (1928-1938), this lively book, created with the full co-operation and input of the Walt Disney Archives, brings to print for the first time the finest and rarest early Mickey memorabilia. Drawn from the world's greatest collections, the objects are comprehensively categorized and illustrated in over 230 especially commissioned, stunning full-color photographs.

The twelve most important categories of Mickey memorabilia are shown and identified in separate sections, including tin toys, celluloid toys, dolls and puppets, games, ornamental figures, animation art, tableware, publications and buttons. The authoritative introduction tells the story of Mickey's and Minnie's origins, characters, and merchandising history. An international team of well-known experts and collectors headed by Bernard C. Shine has co-operated in the production of this volume.

Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Memorabilia is not only a major contribution to the existing Disney bibliography and a collector's item in its own right, but also a delighfully entertaining nostalgia trip back to youth, fantasy, and fun for everyone.
