Antique German Victorian Child's Tin TOY BABY CARRIAGE, Pram, Push-Cart or BUGGY
believed to have been made by Marklin although this toy is not marked (no ink stamp and no Marklin shield marking)
the baby carriage is incredibly lightweight (weighing only 5.5 ounces!) and is made of cream painted tin metal; carriage body has raised embossed sides with a basketweave, oval cameo and diamond pattern done on each long side (basketweave pattern at each short end); all metal spoke wheels can turn and move freely on the metal axle pins; curled wire handle with wood painted grip; the attached carriage hood is collapsable (and can lay on either side of the carriage) with peacock blue painted metal frame and old netting "canopy" cover
a Victorian era child would have used this to pretend play with her favorite baby, bebe dolls or soft teddy bears
carriage measures: 9 inches across X 4 inches wide X 9 inches tall (from base to highest point when the canopy is in the full upright position)
FLAWS: original cream paint chipped in spots and there are small small spots of surface rust (see on spoke wheels and on frame here/there), the cream mesh canopy is very worn and shredded from age, 2 of the spoke wheels can slide down on the metal axle pins (these look like someone tried a glue repair to keep them fixed) although they can move; there is no bedding mattress inside
this is a great find.... Both for the antique Victorian toy and doll collector!
