Glass with Sterling Silver Hinged Cover Perfume Bottle, London Hallmarks 1911 

Beautiful and clear pressed glass perfume bottle with a sterling silver collar and cap hallmarked for 1911.  Inside the cap is the sterling mark and the “q” for 1911 and this area also has a gold wash.  The marks on the outside are almost impossible to read but it came with a paper that said it was marked sterling, London, 1911.

It is large at 4-1/2” tall.  The glass is about 3-1/2” thick with a circumference of 11”.  The pattern on the glass is triple line plus signs and 4 oval leaves.  There is no decoration on the sterling.  Unpacked the bottle with cap on weighs just over one pound. 

Inside the sterling cap – which has come lose from its hinges is what appears to be the original glass stopper.  It is in fantastic condition with just a couple of teeny flea bites on the upper rim just below the knob.   Has some scratches on the sides – maybe even someone’s initials.

The glass bottle is in beautiful condition with no chips, cracks – just flea bites on some of the edges that you can only see with magnification.  Some scratches on the glass with one particularly long on the very bottom. 

The sterling collar is in nice condition with no dents.   It has some black spots and scratches some of which may be removable.  Some areas particularly around the hinge look pretty worn.  I believe the hinge could be fixed.  Even thought the hinge doesn’t work the silver cap fits snug over the bottle and will not come off unless you want it to.
