~UNUSUAL RARE YAZZIE NAVAJO NECKLACE ~NO RESERVE~ SILVER SQUASH BLOSSOM SIGNED~  

• You are bidding on an unusual & rare Navajo Sterling Silver Native American Squash Blossom Necklace by Harrison Yazzie.

• The necklace measures approx.  24" long not including the pendant which is an additional 2 1/4" long. 

• The squash blossoms are approx. 2" wide.

• The Naja pendant measures approx. 2 1/4" x 2 1/4".

• The clasp is a hook & eye.

• On the back of the Naja pendant, it is stamped "H Sterling" four separate times.  This is the hallmark of Navajo artist Harrison Yazzie.  He also stamped the back of each individual squash blossom bead, it is visible on most of them. 

• Each squash blossom bead has an oval cabochon of white Howlite.  Howlite is a mineral found in a few mines in California and was used by some of the finest Navajo craftsmen. Howlite is often called "White Turquoise" and is known for its great final polish and rich luster.  Each Howlite cabochon is accompanied by an ornate leaf and scroll design and a trumpet blossom, please see photos. This necklace is extremely detailed.

• This is a stunning and ornate example of a Native American squash blossom necklace. It is not your typical touristy turquoise or red coral squash blossom necklace and to boot it is signed by a renowned Navajo artist.  Harrison H. Yazzie was born January 27, 1941 in Keams Canyon, AZ (USA) and passed away on April 1, 2010.

• The squash blossom necklace is the cornerstone of most Native American Indian collections.

• The squash blossoms symbolize the hope for a bountiful harvest. 

• This item is an estate piece, it is in excellent condition.  There are no missing stones or sterling beads & leaves. There are minor, minor scratches on the back of the pendant and on some of the blossoms, consistent with the softness of sterling silver and the age of the piece.   This is us nit-picking, we are simply trying to be as specific as possible for our customers.
