DIY for a: coffee table

vtg Victorian CAST IRON TABLE/Swivel stand LEGS industrial age machine steampunk

This auction is for FOUR [4], unusual, matching, Victorian era, ornately cast iron legs that have their original, 360 degree-swiveling wooden casters on the ends.

I am not sure what type of furniture these legs came from originally -- perhaps some sort of store stand or fixture that required mobility. Because of their short height and their offset or cantilevered form,  they'd make a really neat set of legs for a low coffee table or for a base of a floor lamp.

The topmost point on each leg is a triangular post, so these were meant to be inserted into whatever held them - possibly so that they could rotate or fold flat. Please have a look at the photos so you can see what I am trying to describe here with regard to function.

Legs retain about half of their original black lacquer finish [although it has dulled with age] and the wooden casters are also all original with most of their original black paint. There is surface rust, and patina on these - I have not cleaned them, just dusted. From a local Princeton estate. They are unsigned or I did not detect a marking.

Please see my two photos with the inch ruler, for the measurements, above. The thickness of each leg is about 5/8" and the topmost triangular point or post, on each is 1-1/4" long where it would insert into something. I've added some detail photos of this top post, above.

Please note there are no mounting holes on these legs.

These are HEAVY and strong.
