Dynamask 5000 dry film solder mask is a aqueous processable dry film photo polymer solder mask utilizing epoxy chemistry materials well know for their electrical insulation, chemical resistance and dimensional stability properties. Product characteristics: Excellent resolution capability low light bleed characteristics Scratch resistant flexible film which improves via hole tenting integrity Wide Process latitude Compatible with no clean and aqueous based fluxes and solder pastes. The Dynamask 5000 is used by the high tech cirucit process makers that involve costly machines but it can be used by the hobisstics with good results. The next steps describe the process to apply Dynamask using conventionals tools. Tools needed: Laminator or Iron ( Laminator is prefered) Uv light. Sodium carbonate for developing (better know as a Soda Ash or Washing Soda).
Process: Suftace preparation: Clean the board from any residue or grease. You can use acetone or Isopropyl alchohol. Lamination: Remove the transparent film protection from the dull side of the Dynamask 5000 and apply it to the circuit board with the laminator or Iron. If using an iron put a paper or a rag between the iron an the Dynamask film Exposure: Expose the Dynamask to the UV light source covering vias and pads with a transparent mask. Exposing time varies depending on your UV power, between 10 sec to 5 minutes. Remove it form the UV light and let it sit for 5 minutes. Development: Remove the second transparent film protection from the glossy part of the solder mask film. Prepare a solution of 10 gram of sodum carbonate on 1 liter of water in a temperature between 80 to 95 degree farenheit. With the help of a brush gently scrub the suface until all pads and vias are exposed. Curing: Expose the board again to the UV light for at least 30 minutes to complete cure the Dynamask 5000 film.
