ci 1840 Virginia Pie Safe 10 Tins Pegged Mortised Square Nails Original Paint NR

We are very pleased to be able to offer for auction this wonderful circa 1840 Pie Safe from Virginia in Original Paint with No Reserve!  This pie safe has incredible folky tins, 8 large soldered tins measuring 20 inches by 14 inches and two smaller tins 14 inches by 7.5 inches.  The tins are wonderful, a star in the center of each large tin.  Please see the pics.  The pie safe has two doors over a long single drawer which is dovetailed.  The sides of the pie safe each have two large tins with a smaller tin near the base of the piece.  Inside the pie safe are three shelves and one half shelf and in original surface.  The paint is a very old green/black over a blue/green.  This piece is mortised and pegged construction and the back is attached with square nails.  The feet on the pie safe were worn away and had to be replaced.  I used period feet to replace the ones missing.   This is a great piece in original surface.  It has beautiful form and is a nice, tall size.  It measures 67 1/4"h x 40 1/2"w x 17 1/2"d . While we were cleaning the inside of safe, we found an 1837 silver Seated Liberty Dime wedged at the back of a shelf.  This is the first year this dime was minted.  This dime will be included with the Pie Safe.  An early Pie Safe such as this one from Virginia doesn't come along often anymore.  This is a beauty!  Don't miss out on this wonderful circa 1840 Virginia Pie Safe in Original Surface being offered with No Reserve!
