This outstanding, Engraved Portrait is fully titled "The Hon. Edward Boscawen, Admiral of the Blue Squadron".
This very attractive, 18th century Portrait of Admiral Edward Boscawen measures approx. 4 3/4” by 5” (sheet size) including thin margins on each edge. The Image is a bust portrait Admiral Boscawen in oval.
Admiral Edward Boscawen, PC (19 August 1711 – 10 January 1761) was an Admiral in the Royal Navy and Member of Parliament for the borough of Truro, Cornwall. He is known principally for his various naval commands throughout the 18th century and the engagements that he won, including the Siege of Louisburg, Canada in 1758 during the French and Indian War and Battle of Lagos in 1759. He is also remembered as the officer who signed the warrant authorizing the execution of Admiral John Byng after Byng's court martial in 1757 after the failure of Byng to engage the enemy at the Battle of Minorca

The Archive was put together in the mid 19th century by a Canadian collector and contains many items of great rarity and beauty. All of the items in this archive are exceptionally well preserved with most exhibiting no wear or damage of any kind. There are over 160 items in this archive and we have been offering these rarities over the past few months as part of our regular, weekly eBay auctions.
This wonderful Engraved Portrait is 100%, unconditionally guaranteed to be an original, ca1760 printing and not a restrike, reprint or reproduction. It is in very good to excellent condition - clean and crisp in the image area with some light soiling in the margins. There are no tears, edge chipping, physical damage or repairs of any kind. Overall this is a well preserved and very attractive example of this important Canada / North American related portrait.
