Features Acotrs:Seth Rogen,Elizabeth Banks,Traci Lords & Katie Morgan Running Time:101 Min. Rating:R Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks) are two Pittsburgh bottom feeder platonic pals who have been rooming together since graduating from high school a decade ago, while toiling at the local java joint dispensing designer coffee. When their utilities get turned off for nonpayment, stud geek Zack devise a plan to raise cash by putting a porn movie together, starring himself and Miri. This, after an embarrassing video shot on the sly with a coffeehouse customer's camera phone of Miri in her granny underwear, ends up on YouTube and is a smash hit. Inspired by a former classmate's success in the adult film industry, they seize on the bright idea of co-starring in their own xxx-rated film. They agree to mate onscreen, but with mutual promises not to let the momentary intimacy change their otherwise non-physical relationship. All goes well until to Zack and Miri's surprise they develop deep feelings for each other. The problem is that Zack and Miri are as comfortable with each other as any established married couple might be. So when the idea of simulated stranger sex with your monogamously inclined best buddy as a business venture presents itself, complicated issues like emotional attachment denial and jealousy when engaging in real sex with actual porn people for hire (Traci Lords, Katie Morgan), abound. Nothing exciting, kind of a just as you expect movie.Hope this helps you decide. Thanks for reading. :)Read full review
Zack and Miri is a comedy, made by Kevin Smith, which varies a lot from the Askewniverse -the universe which includes all those characters from his other movies, like clerks, mallrats, chasing amy, dogma, jay and silent bob strike back, named like that, cause of his production “View Askew”- comedies. The characters are in no way related, and the set is nowhere near New Jersey, this time. It’s about a couple of roommates/best friends -a guy and a girl- who go broke and lose the simple casualties of life, like electricity, water and food.. The only decision left, is for them to make a porno movie, cause, let’s face it…it’s the easiest way to make a profit…Or is it? It’s a hilarious flick, if you ask me..cause the characters are so special and unique, yet so realistic.. I’m not talking about the stars, only –Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks- who have great chemistry and everything.. I’m talking about the rest of the cast, too. A movie that never gets you bored, and keeps you entertained, till the end of it. It can easily inspire people to do something like that..not necessarily to make a profit, but just for fun, too –and I don’t mean it in the bad way, like it will affect people to jump to the dark side of pornography making-. Rogen and Banks are perfect for the roles they’re given..and Smith’s writing seems once again, pretty original and creative..So, no worries for the Jay and Silent Bob fans, cause the movie may not include them, but it still is a really funny movie. 2 thumbs up for Mr. Smith from me, once again!Read full review
Wow! I was really looking forward to this. I love K Smith's work. He is crude and tells a bitchin' story like no other. The cast is incredible, and has the cumulative skills that span decades! I purchased this newest film with high expectations. I was unfortunately very disappointed, or perhaps just expecting too much. The lines were hopelessly cheesy, the story was too predictable, and the action was 'unnecessarily' crude. Kevin Smith's films are expected to be crass and insolent in nature. This is one film that doesn't gain anything from these qualities. I hope his next film draws back on his earlier qualities. I look forward to it, but if it resembles this one, it may be the last I purchase without renting first. This one may be destened for the E-Bay pile. Better luck next time Mr. SmithRead full review
This is a classic hilarious Seth Rogen film!! I love the movie it is so funny! The story line is great and has a an excellent ending. Seth Rogen and the girl who plays Miri are funny and fit their roles perfect. My favorite scene is when they use water from the toilet to wash Miri's hair because they didn't pay the water bill! Too funny!
First tome I ever took a serious look at Elizabeth Banks. And now I LOVE her. Craig Robinson is everything in this movie. And I love the porn stars' roles too. Kinda stupid, yes but it has great moments. Especially one very "explicit" sex scene Justin Long's cameo was freaking Epic!!!
