IMPORTANT NOTICE PLEASE READ!: There is currently an epidemic of reproduction Native American jewelry being sold on Ebay. The penalty for misrepresenting Native American jewelry is huge!! THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW! A seller can not link any piece of jewelry to any Native American tribe that is not Native American made. That includes listing an item under Native American search categories.

      1) Every item sold on this site is guaranteed 100% authentic Native American made, but this is only words.

     2) I will give a written and personally signed certificate with every item purchased. This is significant because it can be used against me in a court of law.
     3) There are many sites that I am aware of selling Philippine and other foreign made jewelry items. If there is one thing that can make you feel good about the situation is that I am currently working with organizations and different Native American groups and artists and the wheels are in a positive motion of change.

     4) Something to bear in mind is that the Native American artist use to hold 100% of their art. They currently hold 40%, with the foreign countries holding the rest. By purchasing, or selling these items, you are seriously destroying the honest seller and the Native American craftsmen. I have talked to many of my Native American friends, who are currently artists. They all have lists of friends and family who have been put out of business because of this epidemic.

     5) If you have any questions, I am more than willing to help and educate, to the best of my ability. Many sellers are soon going to come out with guarantees. If you do not receive personal written confirmation, they can be totally worthless.

I have been very active in working with many Native American artists to help stop the epidemic of reproduction jewelry being sold on ebay. I was personally invited to meet with SWAIA, Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, who produces the Santa Fe Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with a representative from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and many Native American artist, who are all fed up with the amount of reproductions being sold on ebay and the laws not being enforced. We had a very successful meeting and though things take time, a change is in the process.

About Us

As you know from my listings, I am very involved in getting reproduction Native American style jewelry off of ebay. So many buyers have contacted me with so many questions on how to tell what is authentic and what is fake. Even the best experts in the world have been fooled by some of the items. I am not an expert, but I do a lot of research and have talked with many Native American artists about this subject. Education is your best defense on getting ripped off!

Below are some educational tips for the buyers tired of being scammed:

 Some marks of reproduction items:

"G" Fransisco Gomez? The real Gomez is a Mexican man that does do beautiful CARVED Native American STYLE work, but these are not his pieces, nor is he Navajo, so sorry sellers, can not even get away with putting him in a Native American category. Some sellers claim to sell his items. Please keep in mind that carving turquoise by hand and also making the stelring set to place it in takes time for one person to make. Selling 25-35 items of all "his" items EVERY WEEK is a sure tell sign that they can not be done alone. Done by him? HHUUMM..... Most of these pieces sell for below sterling cost alone, but yet they keep coming up each week. Think logically.

"BY" Betsy, Byron, Ben, ect... Yazzie? If you notice on sites selling these items, this supposedly "Yazzie" is a very busy Zuni, Navajo and Hopi artist...All reproduction from the Philippines. Yazzie is a very well known, well respected Native American artist family, "BY" is not a family member. -- "MB" -- "YM" --"BRF"-- "WF" -- "NW" -- "LA". There are so many more, but let me help you on how to tell:

1) When you see the same item being sold over and over again on the internet, from different sites and even the same site weeks or months later, it very well could be a reproduction. Some Native Americans artists will stick with very similar styles or look, but these items are handmade, or handcrafted. Look closely, authentic items will have stones set in different places and sizes of the piece or stones will be different. Reproduction items are made in sweat shops and with machines. The reproduction items are ALL the same... style, size, stone placement, ect... If an unscrupulous seller is claiming an artist name, look up their name and type of work they do. 9 times out of 10 their work is different than the seller is stating.

2) When you find an item you like, put the same words in the search bar, or "stamped __" and include "search title and description." If you see the EXACT same item being sold on another site, with the same initial, or even different initials, but it is an identical item and one calls it Navajo and the other calls it Zuni or Hopi, you are looking at a reproduction item. Some of the EXACT same pieces will have different hallmarks. RED FLAG!

3) If you have any questions on an item you are bidding on, please do not hesitate to ask me to look at it. I will do my best to help you. I have seen many of the reproduction items and have helped many buyers already. There are MANY HONEST sellers on ebay and MANY UNSCRUPULOUS sellers. Know your sellers, ask questions and ask for a certificate of authenticity, even if it is a personal hand written guarantee with their signature. If they state that some of their items are not Native American made, mixed in with "Authentic" items, they have a connection to purchase reproduction items and will usually put the lower-end items as Non-Native American made and put the higher-end items as "Authentic", hoping you will think they are being honest by stating the reproduction items. Most of these sellers will mix in real authentic items to make their site look legitimate. Stick with an honest seller who only sells authentic Native American items and gives a guarantee with their signature, or a certificate of authenticity and you will not go wrong.

There are many great books to help educate buyers. Two of the "must haves" are:

"The Allure of Turquoise", second edition, New Mexico Magazine, which includes turquoise mines, history, a section on reproduction items, by my good friend "Tony Eriacho", president of the CIAC, natural and stabilized turquoise and the truth on "Old Pawn" jewelry, which a lot of sellers need to read!

"Hallmarks of the Southwest" by Barton Wright, which includes names of artists and their hallmarks or symbols, along with a short bio.
