Yamaha C-2 Natural Sound Preamplifier, S/N 08625.

Having owned the C-2a and several C-4, this C-2 was originally purchased to allow time to repair a C-4.  Unfortunately, I never got to repair the C-4, as this C-2 sounds really good.  It arrived with a bit of noise in the Bass Tone Control potentiometer & Input Selector when turned or toggled respectively.  Before taking the pictures for this listing, I cleaned all of the switches and tone control potentiometers with Deoxit.  Afterwards, a listening session revealed that all the noise had been removed and that this C-2, not only is a good looking piece, but a good sounding/performing preamplifier.  Cosmetically, there are a few scratches on the top in the back; however, you'll soon forget about that as the rest of the unit is SOLID.  Check the pictures.  Now maybe I'll get to repair that C-4!

This is the same exact listing for which I received a Negative in my feedback profile.  The buyer hit the Buy It Know within 12 hours of the auction's listing.  He never took possession of the item.  It was Returned and refunded as agreed, as he refused delivery.  Afterward, in a phone call, the buyer states that he previously owned a C-2a and that "Excellent C-2a" in the listing title  represented fraud.  Why did the transaction continue, or why not read the entire listing?  He said that he did.  What happened to the period after excellent in the title?  He said that it didn't matter, and that he was an attorney.  Funny thing is, I'm a middle school/secondary educator (teacher; yeah, already a masochist), and last time I checked, his remark represented a misquote, a lie... I lost $40.00 in the transaction w/o the buyer assuming any responsibility lauding fraud as motive.  The buyer then sneaks in Negative Feedback some month after that.  Enough is enough.  I'll be seeking feedback retraction and will take up course w/ eBay.  The first line says it all...

I'm using the preamplifier now and know just how good it sounds after cleaning up those pots on an extended listening tour.  Again, it's not a C-2a, but a C-2.  From what I understand, the C-2 used an opamp or other IC for which Yamaha lacked quality control at some part of the C-2 manufacturing cycle.  It prompted Yamaha to take a further stand in quality control by making stakes in R&D and manufacture of certain caps, ICs...  Anyway, the C-2's fate was different.  They would not leverage the sound on "that" IC and did a revamp.  The C-2 and C-2a are of different in topology electrically (that's what I was told), but the sound is very similar (that's what I experienced).  How do I know?  I purchased a C-2a, C-4, & M-4 from a eBay front end to an audio sales/service/trade... store, all 110/220V Universal Models.  From memory the C-2 can run with the C-2a.  My current back end -->  M-2 & 2 Pair of Infinity Kappa 5.1 Series II.  With that emit-r tweeter and the analytical M-2 and C-2, I get a happy ground.  I wonder what it'd be like with the C-2a?  The C-2a and M-4 was unreal but not as resolute.  If you've harsh or beaming tweeters, steer away unless you like the ear bleed  :  )  You do get that bipolar scalpel sound from the C-2 vs. the more laid back presentation of FET C-2a.  Hey, just my opinion.  Basically, you couldn't go wrong with either choice.

Anyway, as I strive to do good business, all of a sudden I start getting weird requests after the sale.  Please take the time to do your own research.  I understand buyer's remorse; however, I cannot afford in such tough times to "eat it" every time someone wants to be overly zealous.  Hey attorneys and others, these eBay listings are contracts.  Just be real, and we can deal.  I won't be eating any more remorseful pie.

Other than that, have at it.  Buy one, buy all, buy now, buy frequently!

Oh, yes; all items include Insurance for the full amount of the purchased price, especially if Canadian customs or any Postal Service gets a lil' sloppy...  No excuses.
