As a fan of Baum's original books about Oz, these 4 animated movies were worth the purchase. First, the good stuff: 1) these were the closest interpretations to the books ever made onto the screen. 2) They don't deteriorate from the originals and leave out very little from the books The bad stuff: 1) there were still minor changes and a little slow at parts, but this isn't at all too bad considering the slower parts were back story fill ins. 2) They changed the origin of the Tin man because it wasn't kid appropriate. Overall review: It was enjoyable for anyone familar with the Judy Garland Wizard Of Oz in the 30s and for anyone who enjoyed Return to Oz in the 80s with Fairuza Baulk. There were minor changes from the novels, but for the most part it was a whole, and they even added a few elements. I wish they would at some point do this again, maybe reanimate these into a series. There are so many more books and good stories that this would make a good show for kids if it was redone again with modern technology in animation.Read full review
