This mag well looks good once I got it fitted to my SigSauer 1911. My grip was slightly wider than the space between the tabs on the mag well, so I had to do some filing on the bottom of the tabs to make it fit. I didn’t expect this because other reviews mostly said it fit right onto their guns. Maybe Sig Sauer 1911s just have slightly wider grip dimensions. It wasn’t much, but enough to prevent the mag well from going all the way onto the grip so that the hooks can engage the grip panel threaded bosses. The other mod I had to do was to file away material on the back of the grip panels to make room for the tabs of the mag well. This I was aware of from reading other reviews.

This part looks great on my 1911 but a couple of my magazines wouldn’t click in the well after install(including the factory one that came with the gun). Luckily I had some that fit. It’s a good part and looks great but not compatible with all 1911 mags. If it’s a project gun that you’re dressing up to shot for fun, then it’s cool. But if it’s gonna be a defense weapon or something you’re gonna take to possible combat situations,I’d think about it. It’s a good part though and looks great.

So originally bought a mainspring housing with the speed chute and the speed chute part of it never layed flat. there was a half inch gap off the gun... Cut to the Wilson combat speed chute, fits like a glove and had it installed in about 6min. Looks like it came with the gun. Highly recommend especially if you not comfortable with taking about the main spring housing.

Did not fit tightly on my Springfield 1911 RO. It tends to slip while inserting a mag. I'm using Lok grips with the cutaway for this magwell and they are tightly installed. The cut away area in the grips is about 3/16 inches too wide which may be part of the problem. I will try adjusting the hooks a little and see what happens. I probably should have spent the money and used a one piece magwell!

Works for my Taurus with not fit issues. The original mags have an over sized wide pad which will not work. But there are lots of magazines that have normal or no pad shoe, which work perfectly. I used Kimber mags, which are cheaper than several others, and added an after market screw on pad shoe. Works perfectly giving the magazine an angled load chute. Some grips, if a hard material may leave a small gap. About a mm gap between gun base and grips. This is due to the thickness of the metal that wraps around the grip screw. A simple dremel work to the grip backs was all it took. Not all grips have a gap issue and some people may not notice or care about the small gap.
