The price and performance and Western Digital warranty and support mean I am very pleased with this drive. It is quiet and fast -- and WDC will back it up if I have any issues. This drive is replacing another WDC drive that still works reliably after 3 years of regular daily use but was reaching capacity. Once you get past the zodiac/astrology "Scorpio" reference... if you are looking for an upgrade capacity hard disk for an older system that uses IDE interface, be careful. It is not as easy as it first appears and you should check for 48-bit LBA support from your computer BIOS or you will be very unhappy. This caution applies to all larger capacity drives with an IDE interface when they are installed in older systems.
I can easily dualboot my BSD needs and Windows needs, lower rpm drive allows for better battery life which makes my desktop replacement laptop happy when I'm mobile. Access Speed seems sufficient, I haven't done a lot of transcoding so I can't attest for caching abilities of the drive yet too highly, but it seems capable. All in all a very nice size drive for being PATA with limited draw backs.
I purchased this drive to install in a laptop system I had also purchased off eBay. The laptop was an older model that uses an IDE interface, so I needed an IDE drive. This drive works like a champ, has plenty of capacity for an older style laptop and has plenty of speed for the machine in which it is installed. Installation is brain-dead easy (possibly depending on the design of the laptop system in question) and I have had good results with the Western Digital brand. The laptop I rebuilt still has a number of good years of service in it and with this drive, it keeps going. In a similar situation, I would buy another one.
I am very happy to get this drive at the price I paid. Telling me how many words to use is absurd. What is this? grade school? Get off you damm high horse eBay! Or write the damm review yourself! I've said it all. What can I say about a hard drive ? It works or it doesn't. What do you want? How pretty it is? How great it feels to drive? Its and damm hard drive. It works at an acceptable price. You pissed me off demanding a word count. How childish of you. This is the last review I will give you. morons
