Many times I have to settle for crimp on (nothing wrong with them... personally, I feel crimp on and soldering afterwards ma be the best "pedestrian" way to get by. Now, with this tool, we can have our cake... and eat it too!! After doing a proper connection, assuredly made by crimping... the proper soldering of the splice can only be but improved should it be soldered correctly. This tool does so elegantly and efficiently.

I bought this mainly for the heat gun feature. It works great and so far has been extremely reliable. Definitely recommend it.

I don't mind soldering one bit. There's a certain satisfaction in making a clean, smooth solder that will last an age. However, I've always hated electric soldering irons. But I've never looked for an alternative, just like I can't be bothered to look for a better toilet brush. However, I've been working a lot on my motorbike in an outdoor parking lot with no available power outlets, so I ordered this thing. And it is brilliant. No wires to get tangled or accidentally melt. And it warms up in seconds. Seconds! And when it runs out, all you have to do is fill it up with some cheap butane gas. The first time I used this, I felt like I'd been living in the stone age up until now (note: I've not tried any other butane soldering irons, so I have no idea how they compare to this one). My friends and I share a communal tool box, and the Weller has taken the top spot. It is a well-made, quality tool that is superior in every way to its electric ancestors. Since a bunch of us share this tool, it's seen a lot of use in the short time we've had it, yet it still looks and works like it did the day it arrived. Replacement tips can be a bit pricey, but we all chip in together for replacements. And we appreciate the little details; like when the cap is in place, it pushes the gas switch into the 'off' position. I can only imagine the smug grin when Weller's designer came up with that idea. Well done Weller. Well done. Read full review

Very useful tool, did not realize how useful it would be until I bought it. It came with soldering tip, torch tip, "Heat Gun" tip and hot knife tip. So far I have used all but the hot knife and I"m sure I will be using this on a regular basis. I am completely happy with this purchase.
