I am responsible for three Waste King disposals in two houses and one cottage. The rubber splash guard in the throat tends to gradually go bad with time so that the rubber "petals" become weak and spread apart. The rubber itself loses integrity so that the splash guard fits loosely and no longer provides a tight seal. A great deal of yucky stuff builds up, on the bottom and after a few washes the part is never quite the same. You won't really notice how bad the condition has become until little pieces of stuff you're trying to grind actually shoot out the top. This is decidedly unpleasant and might even be dangerous. The situation is exacerbated if you've used a fork rather than the back of the spoon to push stuff (in my case, leftover cat food) into the disposal. For very little money, you can correct this nastiness by purchasing a new splash guard, The 1025 is an actual OEM part. The negative reviews of similar parts (on Amazon, for example) are usually for knockoff parts. In this case, I can't imagine why purchasing the genuine part id not the smarter alternative. The disposal will magically become much more quiet in operation as well. Hint: before installing this new splash guard, clean the "throat" of the disposal with Formula 409 or some similar cleaner, and then clean the area with a paper towel and hot water. Finally, use the sunk stopper to install the splash guard with even pressure all around until the splash guard is seated firmly against the bottom of the "throat". I might just start replacing the splash guard routinely every couple of years without waiting until the disposal starts hucking high-velocity grape seeds at me. I have no information which other brands of disposals these parts might fit, but GE and others are often listed along with Waste king in catalogues of these parts. The first photo below shows the original splash guard after some 10 years of putting up with hot water, food scraps, and cleaning chemicals. It doesn't smell so great either. The second photo is of the new one. It seems to have been redesigned - it has more "petals". I have no trouble putting food scraps down it and nothing bounces back. Next time, I'll replace the splash guard long before it gets into such deplorable condition as the old oneRead full review

I purchased this product at a good price and the shipping was quick. It fit very snuggly in the disposal mouth but...it would hold water in the sink while rinsing our dishes. We adjusted the amount of water at the faucet to almost a trickle. That seemed to work, but we were not satisfied with the lack of water and pressure we had to use. In order for the product to allow water to drain to the disposal, I used a paper hole punch to enlarge each small hole in the guard. I first punched out the larger holes in the smaller circle closest to the middle hole. This helped but, water still would not flow freely out of the sink. So I cut the additional outer circle opening's and it seems to work well now, allowing all the water to quickly drain even at full blast. There is no splashing or food contents coming out of the sink when the disposal is used. Because of this reason...I will not recommend this product! It should drain water out of the sink w/out any cutting or additional work right out of the box.Read full review

The original flimsy stopper was only as good as that little removable rubber sealing ring and that ring deforms and tears. I replaced my original broken stopper with this newly designed sturdy stopper without that rubber sealing ring. It appears to be a well thought-out upgrade and I am very pleased with its performance. This should have been the stopper with the disposal unit!

These are great but dont last very long. I have a Waste King dispoasl and these are the only ones I can find to fit it. The rubber could be thicker and it would last longer.

This splash guard was a real life saver for me. My old one fell apart and I needed a new one fast. And it came fast. You can't run a garbage disposal without a splash guard or you get sprayed. I was so grateful to find the right size that fits my disposal. There are two different sizes and I was blessed to be able to find the right size.
