This is a great entry-level banjo for aspiring players on a budget. Take it from a broke college kid, I'm all about finding the best quality out of the lowest price range. Washburn is a reputable brand that makes quality stuff- I own a mandolin and electric guitar from them as well and am happy with all of their products. This banjo has a nice sound to it- it sounds like you'd expect a banjo to sound, simple as that. It has the resonator, which I think is definitely preferable to open-back ones. It feels well-built, plays nicely, and comes with a case that does the job for now. You'll want a hardshell case and a new set of strings as soon as possible, but if you're looking for your first banjo, skip the Rogues and go for something that will be significantly higher-quality for comparatively not that much more money.Read full review

Gave my son this for Christmas and he had it setup and was playing within an hour. AND he had never played banjo before but plays guitar and drums. This was his favorite gift this year!
