I have been looking for a good tower model for a club layout - something that looks "Eastern" and kind of generic, but NOT road specific like B&O or PRR. The Walthers Interlocking Tower kit is a great starting point for "kit mingling" as the late Art Curren called it. I recently purchased six or seven kits and I am working on several models at this time. One is more-or-less as the instructions call for, one has an extended second floor "bay", and one is a smaller square tower for a smaller interlocking plant. The leftover parts are great for building yard offices, yard shanties, and such. The plastic Walthers uses lends itself well to cutting, fitting, and welds nicely with "Bondene" from Bondene. Or one could build the kit exactly as Walthers intended. Either way, it is a fine kit and as someone who used to spend a lot of time in railroad towers, I can say for sure it has that "railroady" atmosphere about it.Read full review

1. Three color comment about structure is conceiving. Molded colors of plastic parts entirely different on some parts requiring purchaser to paint certain parts to achieve the colors represented on the box. Highly unlikely anyone could paint the green trim on the building with any kind of brush, and achieve the accuracy shown on the cover on the box. 2. Stairway assembly challenging even with manufacturers instructions. Should be cast in green color as shown on box.
