Beautiful early Miriam Haskell brooch featuring green glass leaves & light golden yellow glass bell flower beads. White milk glass beads and tiny, tiny, deep red beads accent the bell flower beads. So pretty~ One of the desirable and rare WWII era unsigned pins which has the glass beads dangling down from the metal pierced rectangular bar used at the time which is pictured in the book "Miriam Haskell Jewelry". The chain from which the beads drop from is hand wired to the pierced metal top bar pin. It is wired so one section of chain is lower than the other allowing the glass leaves and flowers to dangle and sway gently without obstructing one another. Short sections of brass chain also drop from the main chain. Attached to these are glass leaves, again, allowing them the graduating drop lengths which is so distinct in early Haskell designs. The pierced metal bar which makes the top of the pin has glass bead leaves & flowers hand wired to it making a spectacular look overall. This is from the period when the Haskell pieces were not signed, however, I've included a photo from the "Miriam Haskell Jewelry" book that show the the design, style and construction which confirms it as a Haskell piece. Please note the book photos I've taken showing the metal bar with pierced holes and description of the style of clasps used. These pieces are so unique. This brooch measures approx. 3" long x approx. 2~1/4" wide. It is in excellent vintage condition, all beads are excellent, especially nice are the green glass leaves, no flaws at all. The wiring is nice and tight. The only thing to point out is a bit of darkening in a few areas on the chain which does not affect the beauty or value of the pin. This can be polished out but as most collectors want to purchase with the original old patina I will leave it up to the buyer to decide.
