***Spring Bike Sale Happening Now*** Spring is here and I have a huge collection of bikes, frames, and parts that I will be liquidating over the next couple weeks. Most of it is vintage stuff I accumulated with a few items from my personal collection. Feel free to check back often as I keep listing more goodies.
Here's a great chance to pick up a really nice vintage Miyata 610 touring road bike frame set for a great price. It is 'Silver Blue' in color and was made in 1982. It features Cromoly double butted tubes and double eyelets up front. Quality from Japan. Second in line below the famed Miyata 1000, some riders actually prefer the 610 for its added durability in its slightly heavier tubes. Condition is really great as you can see in the pics. It has some nicks and scrapes, paint chip on the top tube, but nothing too bad at all and the tubing is in stellar shape, no dents, dings, or dimples of any kind. Very little rustat all inside the bottom bracket, this is a clean, solid, straight frame. The finish is not mint by any means but with some more elbow grease and a bit of touch-up paint, this bike will really shine. Check out the condition on the Miyata Handmade headbadge and the original decals, just super nice. This bike was designed for 27" wheels, though you can certainly use 700C if you use long reach brakes (57mm should work). I prefer 27" wheels for touring anyway; if you're out in the middle of nowhere USA it's a lot easier to get a 27" tire at a Walmart or hardware store than it is to try to find a bike shop with 700C. 27" is way easier to find in other countries as well. Keep in mind this frame does not have canti bosses, those would not show up on the 610 until 1984. Also there is just one set of bottle bosses, these are fairly easy to add though. If you've been thinking about getting into touring, but didn't want to spend the big bucks for a Long Haul Trucker or other uber-expensive modern rig, this might be just what you need. This frame will also make a great commuter or all around day rider as well. Whether you build it up with modern or vintage components this will be a bike that is a joy to ride. Nice find
