Works just fine. I'm so glad I could find this replacement. I had to go online to find out how to program it, but once I followed the directions, everything is just great.

I bought two extra remotes. They came with batteries that were dead. Considering this is and old item ,I was glad to get them. These remotes are sort of hit or miss in operating the soundbar. The buttons are not very intuitively placed.

I bought this unit trying to deal with the noise from a treadmill. While I'm working out, I watch TV or DVDs. Problem is that the treadmill is just loud enough that I have to crank the TV up very loud to hear over it (they are on opposite ends of the room). I got a 50 foot Toslink (optical) cable and ran it from the TV out to the VSB200. Now with the VSB200 mounted to the top of the treadmill, I don't have to crank it up to hear it. The sound quality isn't the tinny sound that I expected. It sounds quite a bit better than the speakers that are in my TV. It isn't a replacement for an AV receiver and set of speakers and subwoofer, but it isn't designed to be. It does a great job at what it was designed for - positioned in the market spot between TV speakers and a surrond system. I only have two small complaints about the VSB200. That's amazing since I'm a super picky PITA. It probably helped that I had been living with the TV speakers for months before trying this unit. First is that there aren't tactile symbols on the button. This would only affect my situation since the way the speaker is positioned I cannot see the buttons to change the volume. I hit the wrong button quite often. Although I could use the remote, I'd have to find a place to velcro it on the treadmill where the beam would hit the sensor. Not really a viable option. Second is that the selected input isn't written to nonvolatile RAM or an EEPROM or something. When the power goes out or I unplug the unit, I'll have to reselect the input port again (optical isn't the default). Like I said, two minor issues. I would still buy it again.Read full review
This is overall a good system for the price I paid. It has a good quality sound to it, fit's perfectly on my entertainment center, and looks very nice. My only 2 downsides on it are: 1) I can't find a code anywhere for my Time Warner Cable remote to control the volume on it: 2) So I have to use the tiny remote that comes with it, and make sure I don't set it down somewhere that I could easily lose it. I like the digital input, which makes connecting it to the TV very easy, and the available connection for connecting a sub-woofer to it.
Sound bars fill an important niche for those who don't have the room or desire for a larger surround sound system to augment their HDTV sound. Flat panel TV sound can be abysmal, and at best mediocre especially in the smaller and ultra-thin sets. A sound bar is a good option and can be mounted under the TV minimizing the space it takes up. The Vizio VSB200 is a decent sound bar. It lacks the audio clarity of some of the more expensive units but it is far better than the built-in speakers in my 32" flat panel. For the price it is pretty good. One strong aspect is the number of inputs. It has a SPDIF optical input and a pair of analog inputs. Some of the more expensive units lack sufficient inputs as you are likely to have a DVD/Blu-Ray player and a cable box. Fiddling with the tone controls on your TV will help. Depending on the price you pay this can be a good value as sound bars can be very expensive. Don't spend more than $100, they can be had for less.Read full review
