Antique World Map in Stunning Gold Foil
Up for auction is a stunning replica of Hondius' decorative world map, the original was first issued in the 1630 edition of the Mercator-Hondius Atlas. Though hard to capture in photographs, this map has gorgeous golden tones with a golden frame perfect for your elegant decor. "Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis Geographica Ac Hydrographica Tabula Auct. Henr: Hondio" by Henricus Hondius. Among its claims to notability is the fact that it was the first dated map published in an atlas, and therefore the first widely available map, to show any part of Australia. The print, likely from the late 1970s, presents well. The matte, frame and glass and are great condition and the foil print looks amazing. A heat wrinkle is the only imper- fection coming down through Canada but it doesn't diminish the impact at all. Measures 23" long and 19" wide and is shipped in the frame.
