I bought an STA-3500 from my local Radio Shack store in 1998 and it served me well for 17 years until I fried it accidentally by trying to run it on a modified sine wave inverter, like the cheap ones at hardware stores. Found out the hard way it only runs on Full Sine Wave inverters, the more expensive kind. Anyway it was not the fault of the STA-3500 and I wanted an exact duplicate which fits on top of the Optima tape deck I bought at the same time. I found a used unit here and it was flawless. These are not top end receivers with lots of fancy features, but they are a reasonable consumer grade and are 200 watts, perfectly satisfactory for average home use. The Ebay unit still looks and runs perfect, so Radio Shack obviously used decent quality components. A good deal for the money.
