This mirrored glass thermometer advertises a John Deere dealership in Dodge, Nebraska (pop. 612) from the early 1950s and consists of green and gold decoration on a mirror background The thermometer itself appears to be in fine working condition and accurate. Decoration includes a dried four-leaf clover ("I bring you good luck") and a 1951 Lincoln penny ("You'll never be broke"). The dealership is listed with a two-digit telephone number. Size is 12 x 5-1/2 inches. Except for a slight discoloration of the dealer's name plate and a small scratch to the right of it, the thermometer is in excellent shape and an unusual memento of vanished rural life. |
