Rare and very very beautiful Epiphone 5102T with Original Case.
Made in Japan- Matsumoko factory between 1970-71 for the USA market.
Deep cherry red a la Gibson 335!
The internal sticker is slightly intriguing...the Made in Japan bit appears to be missing - under the Kalamazoo Michigan bit. Probably someone trying to make out it was a USA guitar.
But the serial number and model number are there.
This model has a different number on the neck plate also WHICH IS NORMAL...but ive seen some with no number on the neck plate just a sticker saying MADE IN JAPAN....????
Guitar Dater Project cannot process serial numbers from Japan...but i assume this is a relatively earlier release as ive seen some with 6 digit serial numbers...???
BUT this guitar WAS ONLY made in Matsumoko factory 1970-71.....so there!

Archtop, solid top, nice smooth medium C shape neck. 15.5'' across lower bout. 2''deep.
Plays well. Amazingly bright and clear tone, pick ups come through like P90's - warm and bright humbuckers!
Superb for blues/ jazz. Resonance and response is sublime.
The fretboard is smooth with no defects.
The back of the neck has a few very minor dings and one through the lacqueur behind the 10th fret - but nothing that detracts from great playability.
The frets are superb. No flat spots or string buzz - but it is set to a very low and playable action. Tremelo all works great.
The input is slightly 'fragile' and does pop and crackle slightly - as do the pots. But this is fairly usual, and once your settled with the guitar its fine.
What ive done is remove the two thumb adjusters on the bridge - thus dropping the string height.
This has worked perfectly! The action seems just right.Plays really nice!! I did this rather than start sanding down the bridge. see pics. Can be put back.
The guitar looks to be 100% original, no repairs, no damage, neck and joint is solid,
Bridge, tuners, tailpiece/ tremelo and saddle are good and original. 'Witches hat' knobs all original.
Tuners have slight discolouration and all turn amazingly smoothly. Guitar stays in perfect tune.
Please bear in mind this guitar is over 40 years old.
The guitar is in good condition for its age but does have a few cosmetic knock and dings - all pictured.
The front is really good - few swirl marks. The back has a couple of knocks through the paint work on lower bouts.
Binding has aged nicely has some yellowing coming on.
Case is very good, few wear marks to the fur on the inside where the tremelo rubs on the lid - but otherwise amazing condition for age.
Unfortunately there is NO PICK GUARD.
40mm NARROW nut; plays 4mm (from the fret board not the top of the fret) at the 12th with no string buzz.
Just stripped back, cleaned and set up with brand new Roto strings, and set up for action and intonation.

Will be very well packed inside a guitar box. I always (and ONLY) use my own signed for, next day, fully insured couriers (UK ONLY).
