I was told by my doctor in January that I was just a couple of tweaks away from diabetes and that was my wake up call, and after much research the RealAge plan by Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen was the one for me. But finding good, healthy recipes was a challenge because they assume everybody gets fat on cheeseburgers and pizza and I've always hated cheese in every way, shape and form. All their recipes were geared towards dairy-eaters. Yuk. I finally discovered that VEGANS don't DO dairy, after I found VEGAN PLANET at the local library. NO CHEESY RECIPES! It was a perfect fit for me, so I returned the library book and bought my own on Amazon. Since I've been using this cookbook I've learned more about vegan cooking, and the myriad other reasons for going Vegan besides just hating cheese. I've lost 3 and a half inches from my waist, I have more energy, and I have begun a more compassionate way of eating and feeding my family. I've had NO complaints! This is a nice cookbook to curl up with, I use it constantly, every week. I've learned new techniques (like the flaxseed substitution for eggs in baking) and now we're even grilling fresh pizzas with homemade whole wheat dough (from my new bread machine!) and from-scratch sauces. MMMmmmmmmmmm........I highly recommend this book for New Vegans, Young Vegans and Old Vegans. I am going to put the author's other books on my wishlist, too!!!!!Read full review
This book is a great book to start off on the right foot if you are changing your diet or you just want to be a better cook. Every recipe I have tried is tasty and different than many traditional American recipes. But even if you aren't ready to try everything in the book, there are traditional recipes that have been modified. The book also includes helpful hints like how to substitute for eggs while baking and how long to cook different types of beans. Robertson diversifies the way to cook tempeh and seitan too. All recipes require minimum shopping and some time when cooking. But after the first time, it gets really quick.
Great informative book for beginner vegans tons of easy healthy recipes love it

I recently decided to adapt the vegan diet after my other eBay buy: The China Study, and this book was reccomended to me by my vegan sister in law. It's wonderful! Not only are the recipes fun and exciting, there is a lot of education in it about why adapting a vegan diet is SO beneficial for your health. I would reccommend this book to anyone starting to change their diet or wanting to get out of a recipe rut (even for carnivores!). Super Helpful!!
A vegan book that doesn’t have a boatload of tofu/chickpea/soybean recipes. I’m thrilled thinking of the possibilities now...😋 I’m a picky eater; I guess. 😏
