Knife Edge Slot vs. Round Slot: Slotted rotors are designed to increase initial pad bite when brake pedal is applied. Knife edge slot is machined at an angel to create a tapered end at the edge of the slot. The tapered end help channel out brake dust away from the rotor. Round slot is like a wall at the end of the slot brake dust will trap inside of it. Both of the design will wear the same way. Round slot does not last longer and knife edge slot does not wear faster. The term knife edge is just a name that we call our slot design. How long the rotors last will depend on the type of pads you use and your driving style.
