UltraPhonic drum set in rare Gold Glass Glitter finish.
UltraPhonic is a budding drum shop located in Madison, WI that has been making quality drum kits since 2002. What is different about UltraPhonic? I believe in making a great sounding and looking instrument that doesn't cost a lot of money. Take a look at a contemporary kit, whether it be a big brand or small boutique name. Everyone is putting solid machined lugs, heavy duty hardware, die-cast hoops, and two-ply heads with EQ built in. All tone killers. Then, they advertise sharp-point bearing edges, suspension mounts, and lacquer finishes because these features "allow the shell to freely resonate." All of these supposed improvements cost a lot of extra money and make getting a great sound more difficult. And at more expense to the musician. UltraPhonic has a different philosophy. It begins with industry standard 8-ply Keller shells. I finish the interior of the drum with old-fashioned amber shellac for a warm sound and vintage look. Then, industry standard Delmar wrap is applied with the only thing that lasts -- industrial strength contact adhesive (i.e., glue). Wrap seams are secured with a solvent for a permanent bond. Then, I cut a precision round-over bearing and integrate the finish into the edge, just like the old vintage kits. Edges are sanded smooth and protected with shellac. The result is easy tuning and nice, warm and punchy wood drum sound. I minimize the hardware, using only what tone calls for. All UltraPhonic kits feature vintage reproduction or actual vintage tuning lugs, high quality Gibraltar tuning screws, lightweight (1.6mm) counter hoops and thinner (9.5mm) legs on the floor toms. Where I put a little extra money (and weight) is into spurs and tom brackets, which are constantly adjusted and on cheaper drums tend to fail. UltraPhonic drums are made with the gigging drummer in mind. No gimmicks, just great sound. They are lighter, more open, more beautiful, and better made than anything you can buy new at this price. I build to order. I built this kit for myself and have played it lightly in my smoke/pet-free home studio. But I am moving it out to finance some recording equipment. Although not new, it is in "like new" condition and I guarantee to be free of defect upon arrival. Build date: August, 2011. Keller 8-ply Maple Classic shells, in these sizes: 14x22 kick (virgin) 14x16 floor tom 9x13 high tom Shell pack only. Vintage Ludwig stand (seen in pictures), negotiable. To reduce shipping costs, heads are not included. Contact me prior to purchase if you would like heads provided. Please read the return policy and ask any questions prior to bidding. Local pick up is welcome. Please go HERE for more information, including an AUDIO Recording. Shipping policy: Flat rate so it's fair to all buyers in the lower 48. Price listed is an ESTIMATE. Shipping will be ACTUAL freight, plus insurance. I'm a 100% Feedback seller, so bid with confidence. This is a quality, one-of-a-kind musical instrument |
