First, my star rating applies to the legitimate version, not the inferior bootleg version that appears to be circulating around ebay. How to tell if you have a knockoff version? Both boxes have the exact same height and width. 8" x 11". Where they differ is the depth. The REAL one is roughly 3 1/2" deep. The fake one is just under 2". Side by side there's no mistaking it. If you're buying it off ebay, or if you think you have a fake one, measure the depth. There is no mistaking that. Also, It's in a much less sturdy box. The shiny Matix innards are just one shiny panel instead of it being just the blue sparkly bits. The DVD cases inside on the bootleg are just Cardboard with sleeve holes cut into them inside so they can hold the DVD's unlike the normal ones that have actual plastic normal cases. The DVD's play back in a very low quality compared to the original. The bonus Magnets are now stickers. There is no book detailing the series included. There is a wierd Autobot/Decepticon Logo page (Looks to be a book cover of some kind) included that has absolutely no use whatsoever. Otherwise, the original set is awsome.Read full review
...it's still TOTALLY worth it to a true TF fan. This is an action playset and DVD set in one. It's a showpiece in and of itself. It's exactly what a TF G1 video collection SHOULD be like. I know I spent way too much $ on it, since another complete series edition is available out there for around $50USD, but I don't care: this set is just that good.

IF you grew up in the 80's like I did you know about the Transformers. This box set is the 25th Anniversary of this amazing series. It comes in a box shaped like the Matrix of Leadership. The sides pull open and grants you access to the DVD's and extras inside. The DVD's are stored nicely in a cardboard foldout DVD case. Alternating images from Autobot and Decepticon. Also included is a book that has episode summaries and bios of the characters. An amazing set for any Transformers fan, and getting harder to find. BEWARE THE BOOTLEGS! There are bootleg editions going around eBay (and probably amazon too!) The REAL Shout Factory edition is about 3 1/2" deep. The bootleg is just under 2" deep. Other noticeable differences include poor quality prints, poor quality dvd cases that don't have plastic trays, only cardboard sleeves with plastic bag protectors, and poorly reproduced STICKERS instead of magnets. I am sure that the legitimate version is a great edition of this product, if only I could get my hands on it.
