A very good book. First hand account of events that happened from the people who were there. I bought it because I like to read memoirs and biographies of Military people and lately, events of WWII. Audie has a distinct way of writing, that was irritating at first, until you got used to reading the way he wrote. I wasn't quite sure where we were in the story or what was happening. I felt like I was taking shots in the dark trying to pull everything together. Would I buy the book again, knowing what I know about it now? YES. Worth the read!
A reality view from the perspective of an Army Infantryman. He uses phonic spellings to accentuate the various regional accents. Knowledge of French would be helpful to translate some of the conversations. No mention is made of his many combat medals.

It is a very interesting book by the most highly decorated soilder of WWII, Mr. Murphy is very down to earth in his dialogue. The manner in which the book is written is difficult to track initally, but once you become acclimated to his style it is rather refreshing. It would be a book that I would give a person that is considering a career in the military to better grasp the realities of a combat attitude.
Awesome

This was a Christmas present for my son who collects true stories of books and movies regarding WWI; WWII; Korean War and Viet Nam War. It is an excellent book for all to read regarding the most decorated soldier of World War II.
