I had my reservations on the purchase of this show mainly due to my disdain for our current political system. I can write for hours on end about the poor decisions and back door corruption for which the American people are the collateral damage. In trying to keep an open mind and at the recommendation of my sister I decided to take a flyer on this show. To my surprise it is a well written, engaging with characters that are not annoying, yes that includes you Sam Seaborn played by Rob Lowe, and I find it to be very entertaining. For the reasonable price I paid for Season One it turned out to be a good investment. I look forward to Season Two. For anyone who is heavily interested in or exposed to the current political arena, this show may be a bit too simplistic in its idealism, however, the spirit of the writing is top notch and it is too bad reality does not meet fantasy when it comes to these characters. Recommended for sure.Read full review

Sadly, the reason I ordered it was because a previous set of West Wing CDs I had purchased had a faulty disc #1 and I was looking to replace that disc. This set ALSO had a faulty disc #1, though the other discs seemed to work properly. Still, it was very frustrating to not be able to watch the first four episodes of the series!!

It was a sad day when Jed Bartlett turned in his presidential seal and headed back to the farm in New Hampshire -- but what a great ride we had for 154 episodes!!! A true ensemble effort by some of the most talented actors ever. This is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as we all wish it was -- intelligent, morally-centered, tough, vulnerable, determined, divided at times, but always united in the end. Starting off with a bang, literally, POTUS rides his bike into a tree and Sam manages to swap pagers with Laurie -- who knows what THAT little mistake will bring. Then there's Josh's big mouth [that's Josh, always quick to speak, but a little slower to think; thank heavens for Donna] And Jed is such a NICE guy, you'd think his own Vice President, Congress, and heads of state would be falling all over themselves to help him. WRONG! Even the weather manages to make Jed's life tough. Mrs. Landingham, Charlie, Abby, and Zoe all put forth their best, but Jed's a tough nut to crack. As Chief of Staff, Leo tries to keep the kiddies in the corral, but it seems something is always slipping through to the media, the Republicans, Congress, or who knows who. Is that why Leo is so grumpy so much of the time? Or is it Leo's struggle to balance work and family life -- family life?!!! Who has time?! If Leo didn't believe his wife's words, Malory makes sure Dad has the story straight. And Margaret just keeps being Margaret! Episodes not to miss: The hiring of Mandy and Josh's reaction. Jed talking to a scared kid caught in the middle of a major storm. Toby and the homeless man. Josh's first meeting with Joey Lucas. Toby and Sam trying to find the Wesley Police station. CJ doing "The Jackal" and Jed's stirring speech at Roselyn. Hang on for Seasons Two through Seven!!! You've never seen TV this good!Read full review
DVD of the series The West Wing. Beats watching just YouTube clips and shows each actor in their roles completely.

When the Big Networks' TV Season is over, (or on hiatus like this past Season!), we usually rent DVD Sets to catch up on new series that we have found after they have been on, or sets that have compiled some of our favorite series recently. Right now we are waiting for Season 3 of 'The West Wing' to come in, after viewing Seasons 1 & 2 this past week. This great TV Series was one of Tina's 'TV Shows' that she watched before we married a few years ago. I hadn't watched it before, and found myself very interested in the final seasons, starting midway in Season 4. I usually don't like getting 'involved' with a series that has been on for a while, but found the actors to be well casted and after a while tended to ignore the sometime 'preachy' aspects from the producers and just let myself be entertained by the storyline. Recently with the 'presumptive' nominee Obama winning the Democratic nomination, I've missed watching the fun of actual campaign races being fought everyday on the cable networks. When I saw Season One of this TV Show for rental, I queried Tina if she wouldn't mind if I rented the DVD for us to view. Turns out she had only see most of the episodes of Season 1 & 2 herself, and thus we have been enjoying watching this 'timely' show the past couple of weeks. Now we are watching another DVD set while waiting for Season 3 of 'West Wing' to come in. BTW, if you have not seen all the episodes of this series, it has a high recommendation from Tina and myself! We do watch more than just Sci-Fi and Comic Book Movies! Please note: The above was from our blog post date 06-29-08, and is shared here as our 'review' of this DVD Season 1!
