I bought this as a fan of the classic horror literature and the vintage Universal monster movies. I haven't finished the book and probably won't. It's essentially a romance novel for teenage girls, which I'm not particularly enthralled with. What I have read has been delightful in it's humor, use (and anachronistic misuse) of historical characters and clever references to the old horror movies, actors and literature. It's light reading, but if you know about the classics in this field, you'll be in on the clever jokes and references, of which there are many. She really covers the field. It's like "Young Frankenstein". It makes a lot more sense if you know the original movies and see what Mel Brooks is referencing. I may wind up finishing it, anyway. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book, but it's probably best appreciated by a younger romance fan who is also a fan of the old monster movies. One example is Chaney, Earl of Lon (or something close to that). The book is full of such double entendres. This is a fun story. by Mark (who1buffy)Read full review
