This is a handmade wooden Deku Shield from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is around 16" wide and 19" long, and is half an inch thick. It is made from hand-carved 4-layer pinewood. Most of it is covered in wood stain, and the symbol is made from acrylic paint. The top and bottom edges are not stained to match the official artwork.

It has also been thoroughly sanded to help prevent splinters. The wood stain helps preserve the grain in the wood to make it look like a piece of bark. This makes it look and feel much more natural than those other non-wooden replicas. The symbol is painted by hand, and always gets at least two coats to help bring out its color. It is also very lightweight, which is ideal for defending and cosplaying.

The strap is made from real leather that has been polished and dyed black. It is 1" wide and 10" long. It is not cheap, thin suede that will rip easily, it is very durable. There are two brass bolts on each end that hold it in securely. The handle is made out of metal, and has a total of four screws to hold it in place. Like the leather, it is also strong and durable.

Both of these work together to make it easier to wield and defend yourself. The strap keeps it partially on your arm while the handle gives you full control of the shield's movements. The durability of the shield itself has been tested on a dummy shield, too. Overall, it's pretty strong, but still don't be too reckless with it.

I can make the symbol red or orange, and make the shield for the left or right hand. Just select what you want in the specifications menu near the top of the page. It is orange in the game, and red in the official artwork, as seen on the right. Typically, people use shields in their non-dominant hands, and use swords in their dominant one. Lastly, if it's for a Link costume, I highly recommend making it for the right hand since Link is left-handed, again, as you can see on the right.
