This is a very good film noir with Barbara Stanwyck in the main role playing Thelma Jordan. Thelma's been around but she comes across as a nice gal - a lady that would be a help to anyone and especially a man. Also stars Wendell Corey, Joan Tetzel and Paul Kelly. Although there are some slow spots in this film, by the time you reach the end, you will not mind at all as the film comes together explaining everything. I think that this film is a masterpiece, actually Of course, Robert Siodmak directed it and he was a genius, I think, and especially when it came to film noir. All the dark shadows are there and the contrasting black and white scenes, startling to say the very least. Check this one out - remember you are watching a Barbara Stanwyck film and Barbara, even though she unfortunately never did win an Oscar for Best Actress, she was still dynamite on the screen and deserved an Oscar on many of an occasion!!! Barbara Stanwyk was such a wonderful actress. She was great in every genre she was associated with. Pre-code, screwball comedy, westerns, film noir, she was a natural in everything she did. I find it amazing that she never won an Oscar. Looking at her filmography and all the important films that she starred in, it's something of a travesty! That's not important though. Even Hitchcock never won an Oscar! Stanwyk is fantastic in this film noir. I've never seen THE FILE ON THELMA JORDAN. I new I wouldn't be disappointed. Barbara Stanwyk will always be a winner in my book!
