The ultimate how to book that also explains the “why” of your dog’s behavior. Understanding what makes your dog act the way it does is invaluable in the training process. I would recommend reading the book before bringing the new puppy home.

Jan explores the principle of "Amichien." The idea is that we should view dog behavior, not through a human lens, but from the perspective of the dog. We tend to say things like, "Sparky knows how to sit, she's just shy." In reality, shyness is not really a dog reaction at all. Understand the dog's language, we can form a well-balanced relationship. Great read!
In all the dog training books I have read, the is the best. It does not go along with the traditional training methods, but I am using it with my three dogs and it works! It also makes sense. I would highly recommend this book to any dog owner. Not only does it address individual dogs, but also addresses "packs", i.e., more than one dog, which is the issue I have been trying to work on.
