Dear me... if I could check excellent 10 times, I would... this book is better than wonderful!!! All I read is Christian historical fiction - I have hundreds of books. So many books that my friend tease me about it!! Cathy is one of my favorite authors because her books all have substance and are more advanced reading. Her daughters books are good too but less advanced reading - at least for me! Lady doctors - never accepted in the early 1800's - had a hard go of it. This one was no exception. And even though she did her best to please the town folk - there were still some that didn't want her there. Thus - the mystery begins - is someone watching her, has someone been in the clinic, should she mention it to someone...???? And, of course, there is romance - unwanted romance - doctor's don't fall in love, they are married to their work. It is an EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT - :) - you get the picture - book!! READ IT - you won't regret it! Joi - RealrelicRead full review
If you have been following the Cathy Marie Hake series..."Letter Perfect," "Bittersweet," "Fancy Pants," "Forevermore," and "Whirlwind" ... you simply must read "That Certain Spark". We once again visit the town of Gooding,Texas where the new doctor and new vet are met at the railroad station with mixed feelings. Many of the men refuse to have a lady doctor, but are very happy with her twin brother... the new vet. Many mishaps and adventures occur while Taylor tries to prove her doctoring skills are superior and love enters her life when she least expects it. You will find it hard to put this book down as you become enthralled in the town of Gooding, Texas. However, please read the books in order as each story follows a time line.

Good book so far, I haven't finished it yet, the plot is somewhat slow. Following conversation is hard at times. But it has an overall cute story line.
