I received the club just recently, and left the next day for a golf trip in Hawaii.. I had been using a Cleveland 15* fairway metal prior to this for 4 years and still love the club. I have applied any adjustments to the R11 Fairway 3 metal just to be clear. I am typically a 12 handicap with a 265 - 275 drive using a R9 8.5* club. All my clubs are regular flex and my swing speed is 98 - 101.. Also, to qualify this I played 5 rounds of 27 holes on 4 different course at different altitude. Ok, about the club.. Its lighter than the Cleveland and with a smaller head. Off the heel it is very forgiving.. Off the center it is quite a performer.. I typically get about 220 with my fairway 3 metal and this was no different, however, the ability to shape a shot is apparent over the Cleveland. I also am not quite used to the club so I have to say I did not put a full 100% into the swing of the club and that is for two reasons. I did not want to whiff it and since I was getting the distance I needed with less of a swing I decided to work on shot shaping which really produced very good results. I don't know that white body changed much for me, but it is an attractive club, and no glare from the face of the club I thought was a plus. It has a distinct striking sound. I found it to work in low rough quite well and I would typically use an iron to work my way out of rough as the larger body of the Cleveland 3 fairway metal was much more likely to be affected by two inch rough than the R11. Due to the tightness of the courses and wind, I used this more than my driver even though the stock loft is 15.5* playing a bit back in my stance and the general control a wood offers it what I needed it to do. Why did I switch.. Shot shaping. What surprised me most about the club.. How comfortable I became with a new club even in a competitive environment. Distance - the average player can likely get more yardage out of it but, the real quality is its shot shape ability.Read full review
I bought the product because I wanted a fairway wood and I like the adjustable face. I can tune the club to fit my swing. Another great feature was the x-stiff 80 gram shaft that was fitted to the club. The club had normal wear marks, but was dirty upon arrival. It cleaned right up and I am overall pleased with the product. I hit it well, long and straight, and am out driving my friends from the tips with them using a driver.
Had this club for about a month now and I find it one of the best purchases I've done for my set. Overall, I think that the R11 3 wood is a really good club for an average golfer. I golf about 2-4 times a month and find this club very useful. I was inconsistent with my swing. Certain days, I find that I'm hitting it with a slight draw and others with a little fade or even a push to the right. With the R11, you are able to adjust that with a simple wrench. Here's my pros and cons of the R11. Pros: The ability to change the face angle and loft of the club. White crown finish makes it easy on the eyes at address. Adjustments takes seconds. Cons: Its on the heavy end for a 3 wood. Probably the heaviest 3 wood I owned. Now that I am more consistent with my swing, I find the adjustments a benefit for added distances and playing certain holes.Read full review

Trying to lengthen my fairway shots, I switched from a Taylormade 580 regular stiffness 3 wood to the r 11 with a stiff shaft. It has been cold weather golf so I am not sure what distances are being achieved but as I play it more, I have been hitting it more solidly. I like the club and how it feels and sounds upon contact. The hollow metallic sound is, gratefully, a thing of the past. It seems to go a lot farther off the tee than from the fairway and so I imagine my swings from the grass need improvement and I should experiment with loft adjustments from the fairway. Only complaint is that it requires constant cleaning in this wet weather and the Virginia clay is tough to remove!
