This collection restores the remaining Johny Weissmuller Tarzan films, and co-star Johnny Sheffield grows up before viewers' eyes. Maureen O'Sullivan is replaced by Brenda Joyce, who is pretty and swims nicely with Tarzan, but the whole series has become too tame, with Tarzan and Jane leading a nearly suburban lifestyle in their cozy little tree house in the jungle and Tarzan being the super ecologist and protector of all that is good and right. He doesn't have much of a challenge to overcome in any of the movies and is never in much apparent danger. It is a rather ho-hum denouement of the series, and of course not true to the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels in the least.
Watching Johnny, Jane, Boy and Cheeta again is a trip back to the days of 'yesteryear' when riding the bus downtown, stopping to buy a box of ju-jubies at the candy counter then being wisked away to a tree house in darkest Africa was an adventure remembered for weeks after. Tarzan never failed to please the spirit of a young and innocent movie fan. A great DVD set for family entertainment today. No need for Ratings here...It gets my 'A' rating for adventure and fun.

Tarzan and Boy are living on the Great Escarpment, though Jane has returned to England. A small force of German paratroopers lands and takes over the lost city of "Palandrya" as an advance base for the conquest of Sub Saharan Africa. Tarzan continually ignores the requests for help from the helpless and enslaved Palandrians, saying, "Jungle people fight to live, civilized people live to fight." Only when Boy is kidnapped by the Germans does Tarzan shout, "Now Tarzan make war!" Tarzan infiltrates the lost city, destroying a machine gun and defeating the German invaders with his knife and an elephant blitzkrieg. The film's final scene has Cheeta speaking into the defeated Germans' short wave radio to call Berlin; the Germans mistake Cheeta for Adolf Hitler.Read full review
A wonderful collection of the final films in the Johnny Weissmuller series. These RKO films aren’t as highly budgeted as the MGMs and Maureen O’Sullivan was sorely missed. However, these were good action packed fun. Are used to watch these films with my father on the local TV station in the mornings on weekends. This is a nice return of those days.
