Open to International Bidders! This No Reserve auction, is for a pre-owned Tama 1997 Starclassic Performer series bass drum.
This drum has a shell that measures 16" deep x 22" wide, and is made up out of 9 plies of high quality Japanese Basswood. This type of basswood is a variety that is indigenous to the Hikada district of Hokkaido, the northernmost of the three main islands of Japan. This type of wood has a sound that is completely different from maple or birch; very loud, open and powerful. Japanese basswood's tonal power is also very well balanced, thanks to a clear sustain and mellow attack.
This drum has a clear natural wood interior. The interior is dirty and has water and glue stains. The exterior is factory finished in Tama's " Transparent Green Laquer " ( TRG). The finish is absolutely gorgeous, and still looks amazing ! There are just a few tiny scratches on the shell, but the most visible wear can be found on the two wooden hoops.
This drum is factory equipped with 16 Tama Starclassic lugs, a pair of Tama folding bass drum spurs, a Tama bass drum reciever plate for the Starclassic tom holder, and 16 Tama tension rods and hooks. All of the parts are beautifully chrome plated, but there are some visible scratches on some of the lugs and tension hooks.
This is an exceptionally rare drum, and it has been beautifully preserved! The factory bearing edges still retain their original profiles, and the drum has a nice warm thump to it.
