AWARDS: #1 Honorable Mention & Walther Cup runner-up '10!
Why include the awards? Many irisarians use awards as a factor in selecting new irises to try. The goal of the awards system is to call attention to new varieties of horticultural merit. Roughly 80-90 (out of hundreds) new tall bearded irises that have been in commerce for two years are awarded the Honorable Mention (HM). Two years after getting the HM, varieties are eligible for the Award of Merit (AM). This award is given to roughly 12 varieties each year. The next level is the John C. Wister medal which goes to just three of the eligible AMs per year. The next level is the W. R. Dykes Medal that is given to one iris a year. That being said, don't let this be your only consideration for you purchase as I've seen MANY irises that have no awards that are just as nice as those that have!
Tall bearded irises are quite hardy, drought tolerant and easy to grow. They grow between 28" to 40" tall and after blooming, the leaves remain evergreen throughout the rest of the summer season! They thrive in all types of soils and conditions but do best with at least 6 hours of sun in well-drained soil. They are a wonderful perennial (comes back every year) that multiplies, an average of 2-6 new babies annually, adding more and more beauty to your garden as time goes by!

This is our 8th season selling our irises on eBay and our listings/auctions begin in April this year and end in July. You're welcome to add to your order during this time. Be sure to check back often for new offerings that are added later in the season.
*A NOTE ABOUT OUR PRE-SALES - If/when leaving feedback...since you're notified up front that the shipping schedule doesn't begin right away, please don't agree to these terms but then leave less than a 5 rating for the shipping feedback. If you're not content to wait for delivery without hard feelings, please buy your irises from someone who ships sooner. Low ratings negatively affects a sellers fees. If you notice feedback being left before July, it's not because we've done any early shipping. It's likely being left by our regular customers who've come to learn the quality they can expect when they receive their orders.
Irises bloom and reproduce in the Spring. Then they need short period of time to regenerate from the energy spent during bloom time. A successful transplant is contingent on this period of rest and restoration. Therefore, digging/shipping does not occur immediatly. For irises, planting season usually occurs in late summer to fall. It varies, depending on your region. If you're unsure of when this is, feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your location and we'll get that information to you.
SHIPPING COSTS: $5.00 and then $1 for each additional single iris won until your order is shipped. If you purchase a lot of irises, you'll pay the full price of that lot and then $1 for each single iris won/purchased. An extra/bonus iris is included in all orders of 3 or more plants...our choice. The bigger the order, the more extras you receive.
* SHIPPING PROCEDURE: Orders that are won/paid for first, ship first. IF YOU CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR ORDER TO BE SHIPPED WITHIN THIS TIMEFRAME, PLEASE BUY FROM SOMEONE ELSE. We'll do our best to accomodate your shipping requests within our shipping schedule. If you're going to be away for vacation at a certain date during this time frame, just let us know and we'll make a note to schedule your shipment to arrive other than during that time.
